World Ocean Day
Come celebrate World Ocean Day at the Oregon Coast Aquarium! This event takes place on Sunday, June 8, and will feature marine-themed activities, art performances, and displays highlighting community partners from across Lincoln County.
Visitors will also be able to explore the Aquarium’s new temporary exhibit ‘Washed Ashore,’ which features larger-than-life sculptures of marine creatures and the threats they face. Each sculpture is made entirely of debris collected from ocean beaches, with the goal of raising awareness about plastic pollution and catalyzing action.
2 Day Seafood HACCP Training Workshop
By the end of this two-day workshop, food producers will have the tools they need to create and implement their own Seafood HACCP.
We are excited to offer this in person two-day Seafood HACCP workshop with Brandii O'Reagan (Washington Sea Grant) and Kiara Caruso (Central Coast Food Web).Brandii will offer step-by-step guidance to build a plan that works for your unique needs and Kiara will share resources available at the CCFW facility.
Day 1 (July23), 9am-5pm:
An overview of HACCP principles. Seafood safety hazards, pre-requisite programs, the seven principles of HACCP, FDA Seafood HACCP regulation, and FDA Guidance materials available.
Day 2 (July 24), 9am-5pm:
Further review of principles, FDA regulation, and the FDA Hazards Guide. Work in groups to conduct a hazard analysis and develop a HACCP plan for a model seafood business. Participants will also have the opportunity to work on their own HACCP plan with guidance and support from Brandii and Kiara.

This event costs $61 to cover the cost and shipping of Fish and Fishery Products Hazards and Controls Guidance (FDA Hazards Guide) (4th Edition). This book will be provided at the event for participants to keep and reference for their business needs.
Food and Parking: Light snacks and refreshments will be available both days, and participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch to eat during the hour lunch break. Free parking is available.

Blessing of the Fleet
Blessing of the Fleet. Everyone is welcome to join us!
On Sunday, May 3rd we will be having Blessing of the Fleet events starting at 9:00am with our Survival suit Races, located between Port Dock 1 and Port Dock 5.
Boat Procession and Bless the Fleet, starting at 11:00am. This has been a longstanding tradition in our community for decades. This takes place in our harbor and can be viewed from most locations on our Bayfront. Any seaworthy vessel is welcome to join us. Sign up forms will be at Englund and Schiewe Marine stores.
At 1:00pm we will have a community BBQ and Highliner competition, we are looking forward to taking this time to reengage with our community and give thanks for all of the support we have gotten throughout the last few years. This lunch will be free of charge and is open to everyone in our community.

We will be ending the day at our treasured Memorial, with a service remembering our fishermen lost at sea while offering support and encouragement to all our fishing families. This year we will have a special Name dedication ceremony to honor the names of brave men and women lost at sea to our Memorial Podium. This will take place at the Fishermen's Memorial Sanctuary at 4:00pm.

BlueLine- coastal field trip with snacks
A city-wide, full-day, self-guided journey through Newport’s blue economy! Each stop will introduce you to the people, places, and living systems that make up the coastal community of Newport, Oregon. Educational experiences include a tour of a sea urchin ranching and seaweed farm, and an open house highlighting local purveyors at Central Coast Food Web, pop-up broth bar (with savory fish bone broths), part of Local Ocean’s 100% Fish Program, and a Dock Walk with Oregon Sea Grant. Other stops include The Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, and the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center and Local Ocean Seafoods.
